SWADDLE is our outpatient program dedicated to helping pregnant women overcome the throes of addiction
Alchemy Addiction Recovery’s SWADDLE (Sober Women Actively Dedicated and Determined to Live Exceptionally) Outpatient Program is designed for women who are pregnant with addiction through 1–year postpartum. Alchemy Recovery has provided this unique service since 2014 and treated hundreds of women and their babies. The program is a supportive, compassionate, and judgment–free program that combines the benefits of our Intensive Outpatient Program and offers these special mothers to come together to learn from one another, support each other, and grow in their recovery. To further assist and guide these special women, we have an OB/GYN who is passionate about helping them, an addiction psychiatrist trained to work with them, and nursing staff to aid in their treatment with medication for withdrawal management.
Alchemy Addiction Recovery is the only outpatient treatment facility that provides comprehensive addiction treatment for pregnant women in the southeast Louisiana region. We are acutely aware of the impact that substance abuse has on their close family relationships, and the potential problems for the unborn child. At Alchemy, we are eager to embrace pregnant women seeking help. We know how important it is to help these women who are treated at times as if they have “The Plague of Addiction.” They find it very difficult to ask anyone or anywhere for help. These pregnant women are full of shame and guilt, resisting to ask for help. The fear the judgement and scorn from people that don‘t understand addiction stops them from reaching out for help. This is why Alchemy is passionately working hard for their recovery. This is what we do know: their recovery will impact at least 3 generations of their family and help end the cycle of addiction. This is our mission at Alchemy Addiction Recovery.
SWADDLE
Program Overview
We assist women in having a healthy pregnancy and provide support postpartum for long-term abstinence and recovery maintenance. Participation in this program not only helps the mother but improves the outcomes for her child. We combine multiple treatment components including medication-assisted treatment, coordinated care with an OB/GYN, counseling with a professionally licensed therapist, addiction psychiatrists, nurses, and supportive female peers in recovery.

Who Qualifies?
We embrace pregnant women who are interested in the treatment of the disease of addiction. We welcome adult women at any stage of pregnancy. If you are currently using opiates, abusing medications or illicit drugs, concerned about Child Protective Services involvement, or fearful of talking to your doctor about your opiate use, you may be a candidate for this program.
How Much Does Treatment Cost?
The program is affordable and intended for persons of all levels of socioeconomic status. Insurance is accepted, including Medicaid. Financial assistance is available for qualified individuals. Learn more about our admissions process and verify your insurance.

Family RISE Program
Our Family RISE program is a special initiative specifically addressing the issues that arise while loving and supporting someone with an Addiction. Through the recovery process, clients are required to identify a supportive loved ones to include in family group sessions. This gives loved ones and/or family an opportunity to:
- Meet other individuals who are experiencing the same thing
- Learn more about substance use disorders
- Release some of the burden by talking to professionals
- Learn about resources for self-care and further support
- Learn how to be an effective support person for loved ones in recovery
